查理大學人文學院起源於1994年成立的博雅學院（Institute for Liberal Education） [1]  ，2000年獲得完全的學術自主權，提供學士、碩士和博士學位課程。 [1]  人文學院主要研究和學術重點是人文學科和社會文化人類學（Social and Cultural Anthropology）。 [1]  人文學院位於布拉格市立本（Libeň）區 [4]  ，擁有240名教職員工和大約2500名學生。 [1]
