研究領域：明清小説、近代中西交流史、文獻學、圖書館學及情報學、英美文學等。出版有《美國俄亥俄州立大學圖書館中文古籍書錄》、《親歷中國叢書》（8種）、《21世紀美國大學圖書館運作的理論與實踐》（合作），《封神演義》（校點）、《綠野仙蹤》（校注）、《醒世姻緣傳》（校注），《暴發》（翻譯）、《 金字塔》（翻譯）、《保護並捍衞》（翻譯）、《我的北京花園》（合譯）、《帝國麗影》（合譯）、《我看乾隆盛世》（合譯）等書，以及中英論文數十篇。講有《圖書館數字化和圖書資源的共享》等課程。
