徐星

1969年7月，徐星出生於新疆伊犁，祖籍江蘇。

1992年，從北京大學地質學系古生物與地層學專業畢業，獲得學士學位。

1995年，從中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所古脊椎動物學專業畢業，獲得碩士學位，之後留所工作。

2001年，前往美國紐約自然博物館從事短期研究工作；同年，獲得國家傑出青年科學基金資助。

2002年，從中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所古脊椎動物學專業畢業，獲得博士學位。

2003年，擔任中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所研究員。

2004年，入選“新世紀百千萬人才工程”國家級人選。

2010年12月，擔任中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所所長助理 ^[26]  。

2012年3月，被評為中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所傑出研究員 ^[24]  。

2013年，入選中國科學院院士（地學部）增選的有效候選人 ^[4]  。

2014年，入選“國家高層次人才特殊支持計劃”（簡稱：萬人計劃）第一批百千萬工程領軍人才。

2019年，參加中央電視台綜合頻道製作的中國青年電視公開課節目《開講啦》 ^[2]  。

2021年12月，出任遼寧古生物博物館館長 ^[8-9]  ；同年，《關於加強自由探索性研究，推動創新驅動發展的提案（2439號）》提案被評為“全國政協2020年度好提案” ^[12]  。

2022年，擔任雲南大學古生物研究院學術院長 ^[10]  。

2023年11月，當選為中國科學院院士。 ^[34] 

徐星多年來在中國、蒙古國等國數十個中生代化石點進行過野外勘查和發掘工作，他組織的對西部戈壁地區連續8年的野外考察使得新疆準噶爾盆地五彩灣地區成為世界上最重要的中晚侏羅世過渡時期的陸相化石點；在遼寧西部的野外工作使許多極其重要的脊椎動物化石得到發現 ^[11]  。

根據2022年6月中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所網站顯示，徐星的研究工作涉及分類學、系統學、形態功能學、古動物地理學和骨組織學等諸多領域；在分類學方面，已發現和命名恐龍新屬種達30餘種，包括世界上已知最早的暴龍類、鐮刀龍類、竊蛋類、傷齒龍類、馳龍類以及角龍類的化石，世界上第一個保存睡眠信息的恐龍標本，世界上最小的甲龍標本，世界上最小的成年非鳥獸腳類恐龍標本，世界上最早的虛骨龍類化石和世界上最早的保存羽毛的非鳥恐龍化石。在暴龍類、鐮刀龍類、竊蛋類、傷齒龍類、馳龍類以及角龍類等許多類羣的形態學、分類學、發育學、系統學以及形態功能學等方面的工作分別代表這些研究方向最重要的成果之一 ^[11]  。

截至2021年4月，徐星的研究成果先後入選中國基礎科學研究10大新聞（1999、2000、2009）、中國十大科技進展（2003、2007、2009）、美國《科學（Science）》雜誌2014年度十大科學突破、美國《時代（Times）》雜誌世界十大科技發現（2007）和美國《探索（Discover）》雜誌年度一百項科學新聞（2010、2011、2012） ^[29]  。

徐星認為，從教育發展的角度，當前以知識培訓為主、以思維培養為輔的體系，在未來將轉向以思維培養為主、知識培訓為輔的體系。基於上述原因，徐星建議，應成立相關組織機構，對大數據和人工智能時代的人才需要進行研究，借鑑發達國家已經啓動的相關改革經驗，結合中國具體情況，儘快推出適應大數據和人工智能時代的教育規劃和實施方案。同時，應選擇一些學科或者學校，先行開展從課程組成、教材編寫，到教育方式的一系列改革實驗，建立以思維培養和方法訓練為核心的教育理念，完成從知識培訓型教育體系向思維培養型教育體系的轉變；建立配套的高等教育體系，包括獨立的高考渠道，以接納參與改革實驗的學生，打通整個教育通道，最終建立完整的適應大數據和人工智能時代的人才培養體系 ^[13]  。

徐星的父母參加江蘇大中專支邊團支援邊疆後在新疆定居。在信息閉塞的小城裏，讀書為他打開了一扇瞭解世界的窗口。儘管生活並不富裕，父母還是會用各種各樣的圖書堆滿兒女們的日常生活 ^[1]  。
