奧斯卡最佳攝影獎

概括而言，參選的影片（包括紀錄片），除短片之外，片長必須超過40分鐘，必須以35毫米或者70毫米兩種規格的膠片拍攝，幀數必須是24幀/秒或48幀/秒。而數字格式的影片，則其分辨率不得小於1280×720。影片的製作方必須在參選截止之日前，填寫好報名表，其中包括製作人員名單、在洛杉磯上映的院線名稱、以及上映和下映日期。

奧斯卡的評選第一步是提名。學院下屬的各個分會列出本專業有資格參與評選的影片片目表（也就是説演員分會選表演獎、導演分會選導演獎、攝影師分會選攝影獎），交由各製片廠核對，同時各分會制定本專業獎項的評選細則並上報學院理事會審批。然後，各分會名下的會員以記名投票的方式，評選出得票數最多的五部影片或者個人，該名單一般在頒獎禮的前一個月對外公佈。最早的奧斯卡並未限定提名數量，致使

有好幾屆提名最佳影片的影片總數超過了十部。從1944年開始，學院限定了各獎項最多隻能有五個提名（2010年起，最佳影片提名又擴大到10部），而對於個人類獎項則根據參與拍攝的影片數量來定，不受限制。所以基於這種規則，對很多電影人來説，獲得奧斯卡提名就是獲得本專業同仁認可的至高榮譽。

在得出提名名單之後，就是最終的評獎投票。學院名下的會員每位只能投兩票，除了評選最佳影片的固定一票之外，另外一票則是與自己專業相關的獎項（比如導演委員會成員只能評選最佳導演獎，而四類表演獎則只能由演員評選產生）。整個投票過程類似一人一票的民主選舉，全程採用不公開投票的方式。開票和統計工作由學院指派的第三方會計師事務所來執行（70多年來一直由普華永道負責），最終的結果作為最扣心絃的懸念，在公證員的公證下封入一個個信封，留待頒獎典禮揭曉。 ^[3]
