研究興趣主要集中在早期四足類的分類、演化以及相關的地層、古生態、古地理問題；從時代來説重點是二疊、三疊紀，從門類來説主要是非哺乳類的下孔類以及海生爬行動物。此外對系統學的理論、方法及實踐也有興趣。
