意大利博科尼大學(Bocconi University) 經濟與社會科學理學碩士(MSc in Economic and Social Science)，意大利帕維亞大學(University of Pavia) 環境治理碩士 (Master in Environmental Governance)，英國亞伯大學(Aberystwyth University) 國際政治學博士 (PhD, International Politics)。
Maria Julia Trombetta 曾任荷蘭代爾夫特理工大學(Delft University of Technology) 的博士後研究員(Post-Doctoral Researcher)以及高級研究員 (Senior Research Fellow)，她曾在那裏從事能源地緣政治、能源治理 和能源轉型項目。她曾在阿伯里斯特威斯(Aberystwyth)和牛津布魯克斯大學(Oxford Brookes)任教。在攻讀博士學位之前，她與ISPI和博科尼大學合作，發表了關於環境和安全問題的文章，主要關注東亞和中國。她獲得了富布賴特獎學金來研究美國環境政策。
