Lizz 生長於Hahira 的一個小鎮Georgia，自小的音樂訓練受到在教堂當琴師的父親的影響，早期唱讚美詩 (hymns)，後來爵士樂和藍調 (Blues) 進入她的音樂生命，高中時在各種歌唱比賽中獲獎無數，後來進入進入在亞特蘭大的喬治亞州大學學習唱歌，2000年她加盟Atlanta城的四人合唱團"In the Spirit"，轉眼間走紅成為Atlanta 城最佳爵士樂組合。如今住在北卡。
2003年，第一張專輯<Salt>一發行就衝上了 Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz榜單第二名。是繼諾拉瓊斯後又一讓人眼前無限亮眼的當代年輕爵士女聲。

Verve 的總裁Tommy LiPuma是著名的伯樂，Diana Krall 和Natalie Cole 是他一手栽培成名的歌手，今次與Brian Blade, Jon Cowherd等共同監製此唱片，陣容鼎盛。 唱作人是現今樂壇突圍而出的金牌身份，中外皆一樣，能夠唱歌之餘兼懂得作曲，才稱得上有才華的歌手，令人另眼相看。Lizz 在此唱片中共親自創作四首歌曲，分別是、、及，另外一首與Kenny Banks 合作，有不俗的表現。其他有Chick Corea 和Neville Potter 的，Jon Cowherd 編曲，Gordon Jenkins 的等，好歌又如何以筆墨形容！

Lizz Wright聽眾評價

Lizz Wright 是爵士樂界一個陌生的名字，2002年Verve 與她簽約，2003年推出她的首張個人唱片。 Lizz 雖然只有二十三歲，但卻擁有一把成熟撩人的聲線，筆者覺得有點像Rock diva Annie Lennox，唱腔受到gospel, R&B 的影響，接近rock 女歌手Oleta Adams 及 Jill Scott 的風格。
