Heathens

這首歌曲是泰勒·約瑟夫特地為電影《X特遣隊》而創作的，其創作受到了電影主題的啓發。創作開始前，電影導演大衞·阿耶給了泰勒·約瑟夫一些自己的想法和電影中的一些片段。泰勒·約瑟夫認為這是一首意義非凡的歌曲，所以很認真地完成了它 ^[3-4]  。

2016年6月15日，二十一名飛行員用摩爾斯電碼發出了一條內容為“takeitslow”（第一句中的歌詞）的信息。隨後，《Heathens》在網上被公佈 ^[5]  。

2016年6月21日，由安德魯·多諾霍（Andrew Donoho）執導的官方MV上傳至Fueled By Ramen唱片公司的YouTube頻道。MV展示了約瑟夫在Belle Reve（一座DC宇宙中所設定的監獄）中演唱歌曲的畫面，而敦在視頻片段中則是以擊打架子鼓的形象出現。臨近視頻尾聲時，約瑟夫和敦在一小房間中心的小型舞台上演出，而在之後囚犯們紛紛離開了他們的牢房，觀看約瑟夫和敦表演着歌曲的餘下部分。MV尾聲，約瑟夫獨自坐在房間內，並由監獄裏的維護保鏢集體圍住。音樂錄影帶中穿插了電影《X特遣隊》的部分片段 ^[7]  。
