Fences也被稱為柵欄桌面，是著名的Stardock公司推出的一款軟件，由該公司的首席技術構架師Jeff Bargmann開發的，用來分類和組織桌面上的圖標一款軟件。
Fences柵欄桌面可以將不同的圖標放到不同的“容器”當中，使用者還可以移動和拉伸這個“容器”。這樣將圖標分類以後，桌面再也不會看起來一團糟了。它還提供了一個有趣的功能：雙擊桌面，隱藏所有圖標；再次雙擊桌面，顯示所有圖標。

Fences Fences
Fences™ is a program that helps you organize your desktop, and can hide your icons when they're not in use. A "Fence", a term coined by this program, is an icon group on your desktop. Fences is an add-on to your desktop, not a replacement.Your desktop by creating shaded areas which become movable and sizable containers for your icons. Double click blank spaces on your desktop and all your fences will fade out, and back. [2]

基本功能
1、對你的桌面分塊
Fence允許你在您的桌面上創建陰影區，你可以陰影區放置圖標。你可以標上你喜歡的標籤，在桌面上任意的移動調整它們。對於新用户Pre-included佈局可以幫助他們快速的佈局。
2、重新全顯你的壁紙，雙擊可以快速輕鬆的顯示和隱藏桌面圖標
在桌面空白處雙擊來隱藏你的桌面圖標。 再次雙擊時顯示桌面圖標。我們認為這是一個非常有用的特點，我們已經申請了專利，你甚至可以挑出圖標或fence以排除。
3、創建快照,並具有自動縮放功能(屏幕尺寸變化)
快照（備份）功能可以截取你使用前和第一次使用時的快照，同時你可以在任何時間截取當前桌面的快照以保證不會丟失佈局。
4、在桌面上創建透明的陰影區域將桌面圖標進行分組排列，你可以將任意圖標放入此區域，並可移動區域位置，調整其大小；
5、雙擊桌面空白區域（或按Esc），便會快速隱藏所有桌面圖標，再次雙擊，圖標又會回來；
6、可通過鼠標右鍵在桌面畫一個矩形的Fences，任意調整其位置和大小；可創建桌面圖標快照。
快速提示
按住“windows鍵”然後按下字母 D 可“快速訪問桌面”。第二次按下上述組合鍵可恢復到剛剛使用的窗口。
更改屏幕分辨率時，您的Fence會自動縮放以保持您的圖標佈局。如果您經常更改分辨率，清使用“更多工具”中的設置，以按屏幕分辨率獨立存儲您的Fence佈局。

fences歷史背景

"Fences", originally "Desktop Icon Organizer", was started in 1999 as a tool to help standardize desktops across PCs, back in the author's high school "web-editors club" computer lab. (Screenshots from / download the 2003 prototype edition) It wasn't until 2007 when the idea was first publically announced and brought for discussion around the web. About a year later the program finally got its chance at a Vista-compatible remake, and in 2008 Stardock proudly announced its new product, "Stardock Fences"!
