Chris Rene曾經染上毒癮並且被強制戒毒，上節目的時候他坦誠已經70天已經沒碰毒品。Chris Rene 12歲開始抽煙，15歲開始喝酒，並且染上了毒癮，幾度崩潰。在戒毒所出來以後，Chris Rene覺得自己不應該再揮霍人生，他渴望在舞台上展示自己的才華，並且渴望用歌聲賺錢養活自己3歲的兒子。如他所願，Chris Rene在《X音素》以《Young Homie 》贏得了評委和觀眾的起立致敬，在國外的視頻網站YouTube，他錄製的視頻在兩個星期內達到了160萬人次的訪問量。他如願以償。據悉，最近，他可能會簽約L.A.Reid的Epic。
