Blackmore夫妻檔在New Age與World Music的音樂領域已頗富盛名，成為少數能夠成功跨足Rock/New Age/World Music的藝人。吉他手Ritchie Blackmore和他的妻子Candice Night組成的夫妻樂隊 Blackmore’sNight，喚醒了多少人的耳朵。神仙眷侶雖然年歲相差達26歲，但這並不影響他們對音樂的理解一致。Ritchie Blackmore從hard rock中抽身而和妻子共同步入美妙的world music,Renaissance, new age, folk領域，源自於Ritchie Blackmore的文藝復興（Renaissance）情結。

Ritchie並沒有完全放棄自己心愛的Fender Stratocaster，但這並不影響他在 Blackmore’s Night裏用原聲木吉他演奏出醉人的旋律，高超的技藝無處不在。Night清爽ethereal式的嗓音輔於各種中世紀樂器----曼陀鈴，鍵盤，錫哨，提琴，鈴鼓，軍鼓，手搖風琴等讓人體驗到從來沒有過的美妙感受。Ritchie曾這樣形容Blackmore’s Night----"Mike Oldfield meets Enya."

Ritchie和Night初識是在1989年，當時Ritchie和他的Deep Purple跟Night所在紐約長島的電台工作成員橄欖球隊打比賽。Night過去是個職業模特，她曾在紐約科技學院攻讀通信專業同時參加學校的電台節目。出於對文藝復興時期文化的深愛，Blackmore和Night在分享經歷的同時很自然並很快地成為了一對。

Blackmore’s Night的最終組成，跟Blackmore以前的兩個樂隊是密不可分的。1993年Deep Purple的專輯《The Battle Rages On》成績相當糟糕，Blackmore傷心之餘退出了DeepPurple。隨後在1995年的《Stranger in Us All》中，Blackmore運用了高科技電子樂使得Rainbow再次充滿活力。這時，Night已經參與到了四首歌的歌詞創作中來。Blackmore其實不想再把這些作品稱之為Rainbow的作品，然而唱片公司的上層卻固執的堅持只有使用Rainbow的樂團名字，唱片才可能在市場上獲得更大的銷售量。在Strangerin Us All之後，文藝復興情結再次加深，Blackmore開始在家大量地練習這些多年來他深愛的但一直沒有真正練習過的中世紀旋律，並下決心出這樣的專輯，而Night也開始在旁邊伴着唱起來。這些天真無邪而又不正規的即興動機正是Blackmore’s Night的萌芽。
