A Horse with No Name

America（亞美利加合唱團）是二十世紀七十年代初期的一支民謠搖滾樂隊，樂隊的3名成員都是美國駐英空軍軍官的兒子。1971年他們推出了首支單曲《A Horse With No Name》，在英國排行榜上名列第三。樂隊的吉他演奏清脆悦耳，被評論界稱為"原聲版的Crosby Still Nash and Young"。在樂隊的首張同名專輯《America》中，他們繼續保持了這種清新的風格。在英國大獲成功後，樂隊返回美國本土尋求發展。《A Horse With No Name》擠下Neil Young的《Heart of Gold》，衝上了排行榜的首位。1973年他們被格萊美音樂大獎評為"年度最佳新人"。他們在英美兩地都大紅大紫，但是這種熱力很快就消散了， 1973年他們僅有一支單曲勉強打入了Billboard榜的前40名。1977年樂隊推出《Harbor》之後，Dan Peek出於宗教信仰的考慮決定離開樂隊，剩下的兩名樂手仍然堅持錄音，但亞美利加合唱團的鼎盛時期已告終止。

Cause the desert had turned to sea

There were plants and birds and rocks and things

There was sand and hills and rings

The ocean is a desert with its life underground

And a perfect disguise above

Under the cities lies a heart made of ground

But the humans will give no love ^[4]
