第15屆英國水星音樂獎的入圍名單顯得十分尷尬，一方面無法忠實反映英國樂壇的真實狀態，另一方面又實在讓人無法指出問題，儘管像《Aerial》這樣的“漏網之魚”不在少數。某種程度上講，以“獨立精神”著稱的英國水星音樂獎不可避免地向一場“分糖果”的儀式轉型了。年度專輯的獲獎者倒是無可指摘，Arctic Monkeys的處女專輯《Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not》的確可圈可點，其中最值得注意的是散漫不羈卻才華橫溢的詞作
