1943年9月12日，德國傘兵從意大利山頂監獄成功救出墨索里尼後，法西斯頭子希特勒決定實施一個更大的計劃：把丘吉爾從倫敦綁架至柏林。卡拉里斯特將軍將這個近似荒唐的特別任務交給了瑞德爾上校。一番認真的可行性研究和縝密的籌劃後，愛爾蘭人戴弗利作為最合適的人選被空投到了英國東海岸。隨後，在戴弗利的內應下，什泰那上校率領的傘兵特遣隊也在英國東海岸準確着陸。

在邱吉爾首相必經的一個農莊獵場，戴弗利和什泰那上校分別以獵場看守和波蘭傘兵的身份贏得了農莊人的信任。就在什泰那以組織演習為名勘察熟悉地形時，一個士兵在營救落水兒童時暴露了德軍的身份。看着一張張驚恐憤怒的臉，什泰那上校下令將所有的莊民關押在教堂裏。

兩個勇敢的少女偷聽到什泰那的講話後，冒着生命的危險將德軍入侵的消息報告給了梅爾森莊園的美國駐軍。戈拉倫斯上校當即率隊前往，激烈的交火中，戈拉倫斯上校不幸陣亡。在哈里上尉的增援下，德軍傘兵除什泰那上校在兄弟們的掩護下得以逃生外，其餘的悉數被殲。什泰那上校躲過一劫後，仍然固執地去完成綁架任務。不久，遠在柏林的瑞德爾被希特勒以濫用職權罪槍決，什泰那也在刺殺一名甘願化裝成邱吉爾首相的演員後，被英軍的警衞部隊擊斃。 ^{[1]  [3]}
