主要研究視頻編碼與通信、圖像處理與模式識別、視頻分析與檢索。

發表SCI 收錄論文60 篇（27 篇發表在IEEE Trans 上）。申請發明專利35項，授權發明專利11項，國際發明專利7項。主持973及863課題、國家自然科學基金重點等國家級科研項目10項。

獲2011年上海市科技進步一等獎（第一完成人）、德國洪堡基金、微軟青年教授獎、SPIE青年科學家獎、教育部新世紀優秀人才計劃。

為IEEE Signal Processing Letters編委、Springer CCIS領域編委、Digital Signal Processing (Elsveier Press) 編委，IEEE視覺信號處理與通信技術委員會、信號處理系統設計與實現技術委員會委員，IEEE高級會員，IEEE SiPS2007及IEEE BMSB-3DTV2010大會程序主席。
