主要從事石油與天然氣地質學、構造地質學領域的教學與科研工作，致力於華南西部重大構造變革期的地質過程及其能源、資源與古生態環境效應的研究，形成了以沉積學、石油與天然氣地質學和沉積大地構造學為基礎，以同位素地質年代學、同位素地球化學和元素地球化學為優勢，油氣地質與基礎地質一體化發展的科研特色，主要研究領域包括：沉積學與儲層地質學、岩石地球化學、油氣成藏富集規律、構造-岩漿事件的能源資源效應、揚子克拉通早期地殼形成與演化 ^[1-2]  。

近年來，主持或參與國家重點研發計劃、國家自然科學基金、四川省自然科學基金、中石化與中石油科研課題10餘項，發表學術論文20餘篇，其中SCI論文12篇 ^[2]  。
