從事神經退行性疾病包括PD（帕金森氏病）和AD（阿爾茨海默病）發病機制和相關治療的研究。研究內容主要涉及PD相關基因LRRK2和α-synuclein的基因功能及其突變引起PD的機制，AD相關基因APP和其裂解產物β澱粉樣肽在AD發生中的作用，針對相關的發病機制篩選化合物和藥物進行轉基因細胞，轉基因果蠅和轉基因小鼠的效果觀察並尋找可行的治療方案。
