歌曲的歌詞流露出對歌手的一個未知名的女友（歌曲中以“little girl”指代）的威脅的語氣，比如“ I'd rather see you dead, little girl, than to be with another man.”這句歌曲的開頭是從Elvis Presley早期歌曲《Baby, Let's Play House》引用而來的。Lennon在1973年的一次訪談中將這首歌視為“least favourite Beatles song”，之後又説這是他最遺憾的創作。 ^[1]  也也説這首歌那時候是George Harrison最愛的《Rubber Soul》歌曲之一，雖然Lennon不喜歡它。 ^[2]  Lennon在《Jealous Guy》中以懺悔的形式重新涉及了這首歌的主題。
