Europe樂隊1981年成立於瑞典.起初樂隊名字叫Force(力量).由核心成員Joey Tempest(主唱)、John Norum(吉他) 和John Leven(貝斯)組成.在一次瑞典全國業餘搖滾樂團大賽中獲得冠軍並得到一紙唱片合約.之後將樂隊名 更改為Europe並在瑞典發行了兩張專輯Europe和Wings of Tomorrow.

樂隊簽約著名唱片公司Epic. 吉他手John Norum離隊,Kee Marcello接替了他的位置.鼓手Ian Haughland與Michael Michaeli加入.
1986年,樂隊發行專輯"The Final Countdown".在專輯中,Michael Michaeli的鍵盤成為樂隊一大亮點.其深受歐洲古典藝術氣息所影響而特有的優美旋律、融合重金屬的爆發力、主唱高亢細緻的嗓音以及簡捷的曲式使他們大獲成功.專輯也登上英國和美國排行榜前十名."The Final Countdown"、"Carrie"兩首歌曲也獲得最佳單曲.兩年之後，專輯"Out of This World continued"再創佳績.
1991年,樂隊發行專輯"Prisoners of Paradise"之後解散.
2004年重組併發行專輯"Start From the Dark".
