Dotais the name of the 17thcantonin the province ofSan JoséinCosta Rica. The canton covers an area of 400.22 square kilometres (154.53sqmi), and has a population of 6,940 (estimate as of 2003). The capital city of the canton isSanta María.
The canton is delineated by the Río Savegre on the south and southeast, the Río Naranjo on the west and theCordillera de Talamancaon the north and northeast.
