惠特尼·休斯頓1963年8月9日出生於美國新澤西的一個流行音樂世家，母親茜茜·休斯頓是福音女歌手，表姐也是著名歌星。1985年2月，惠特尼在紐約“甜水夜總會”初次亮相，就被在場的娛樂圈巨頭認為是流行樂壇的未來巨星。不久，惠特尼出版了第一張個人專輯《惠特尼·休斯頓》，引起樂壇轟動效應，全球銷量達2200萬張，其精美的MV也大放異彩，打破了歐美樂壇長期存在的“膚色障礙”。 美國時間2012年2月11日下午3點55分在比弗利希爾頓酒店被宣佈死亡，全球各地都在緬懷這位流行天后。
