艾拉妮絲·莫莉塞特表示，她是用潛意識創作出來的這首歌曲。當寫下歌詞的墨水還沒有乾的時候，她就走進錄音室裏面錄製了這首歌曲，但在第二天聽的時候她就不記得了

。該曲的靈感來自於艾拉妮絲·莫莉塞特一段每次想起心都會隱隱作痛的失敗戀情。艾拉妮絲·莫莉塞特認為與其説她寫這首歌曲是一種反判行為，還不如説她只是為了抒發胸懷，而且在歌曲中，她沒有提及任何人的真實姓名
