一位長髮姑娘被巫婆詛咒，囚禁在森林的高塔中，惟有放下她的長髮，人才能上到高塔，一次她認識了一位路過的王子，王子天天來與她相聚，不料被巫婆發現，於是巫婆剪了姑娘的長髮，並害王子瞎了雙眼，幾經波折之後，這對愛侶才終於在異地相逢。作為聞名世界的經典童話故事，《長髮公主》已多次被改編為動畫，長髮公主和白雪公主、灰姑娘、小美人魚等也成為迪斯尼的經典美人形象。此次，迪斯尼“舊瓶裝新酒”再用經典童話，宣告迪斯尼動畫製作向3D的世界進軍的時代降臨。
改編後劇情：長髮公主還是個嬰兒的時候就被人從父母的城堡偷偷抱走，她從小在高塔里長大，擁有一頭瀑布般的金色長髮，青春期的她一心向往外面的世界，於是偷偷逃了出來；一個盜賊與長髮公主相遇後陪着她躲避老巫婆的追捕。
