wanted dead or alive

這首歌的標題來自於Jon所欽佩的老西部英雄，以及他如何把他們與自己所憎惡的區分開來（希望死或活着）。在演員工作室的一次採訪中，Jon説，他在一個已經睡不着覺的早晨，得到了歌曲的靈感。每一支搖滾樂隊的生活作風都和不法之徒相似，"a young band of thieves, riding into town, stealing the money, the girls, and the booze before the sun came up."

Jon Bon Jovi在2008年2月20日在密歇根州底特律的演唱會時説，這首歌絕對是受Bob Seger的"Turn the Page"的影響。邦喬維2010年7月21日安大略省（加拿大）多倫多的演唱會上演唱了"Turn the Page"。 ^[2]  隨後，Jon告訴聽眾，他記得聽這首歌是在1985年和Richie Sambora在中西部坐在旅遊巴士車中旅行時，並告訴Richie Sambora，我們要寫這樣風格的一首歌。一年後兩人完成了“Wanted Dead or Alive”。
