這是張傑與《變形金剛》電影音樂總監Randy Spendlove的第三次合作，也是他第三次攜手派拉蒙 ^[2]  。

歌曲的創作者包括Samuel Nelson Harris, Casey Harris，Adam Levin，Nathan Perez，Andrew Wansel，Alexander Junior Grant，Dustin Cavazos，其中包含X Ambassadors的成員，他們皆是美國流行音樂的主流音樂人。 ^[3] 

《Torches》是一首集結了搖滾與流行元素的全新單曲，旨在傳達《變形金剛5》所要表達的頑強抗爭、希望永存的精神 ^[4]  。歌曲海報中，擎天柱和張傑霸氣對視，完成了電影人物與歌曲演唱者的靈魂對話，向外傳遞着稜角分明的態度和信念永存的精神 ^[3]  。

《Torches》歌詞極具正能量，曲調亦大氣磅礴，將變形金剛頑強抗爭、希望永存的的精神展現得淋漓盡致。詞曲表達了在面對挫折和黑暗時，生命的頑強和堅定的信仰，這恰恰也是電影《變形金剛5》想要表現的深刻主題 ^[5]  。在歌曲編曲和曲風上，更多的融合了搖滾、電子、流行等音樂風格在其中，在張傑的演唱中感覺到在嗓音和發音方式上的新鮮感和不同 ^[6]  。

MV中，張傑一襲黑色帽衫，一邊吟唱一邊走在破敗狼藉的街道上，清澈嘹亮的嗓音給殘垣斷壁的城市帶來一絲生氣和希望；或是身着紅色夾克手舉火炬立於廢墟之上，飄散的焰火將他包圍，猶如照亮黑暗的星火之光。一黑一紅的強烈視覺表現也隱喻了電影中正邪大戰等劇情，張傑對這兩種感覺的演繹極具戲劇張力。MV中還穿插了部分電影畫面，大氣磅礴的畫面與音樂相融合，引導觀眾走進《變形金剛5》的全新科幻世界。 ^[7-8]
