Taxman

Harrison説：“《Taxman》是我發現就算我們掙了錢，實際上大部分都得拿去繳税，過去是，現在也是。” ^[1]  The Bealtes的高額收入使他們得承受英國最高額的税收，英國工黨Harold Wilson政府最高徵收95%的附加税（所以歌詞裏有“There's one for you, nineteen for me”）。 ^[2]  在1984年接受《Playboy》雜誌採訪時，Paul McCartney解釋説：“George寫歌，我負責彈吉他。他寫歌表達了對税務員所作所為的憤怒。那之後他才知道税務員對你的錢做了什麼。”

John Lennon在1980年接受《Playboy》採訪時説：“我記得那天Harrison打電話給我，讓我在《Taxman》這首歌上幫幫忙，這是他最開始的幾首作品之一。我給這首歌寫了一些單行的詞，因為這就是他想要的。他來找我是因為那時他沒法去找Paul，因為Paul那時候不會幫他。（其實）我也不想做……我只是動了動舌頭就説OK了。一直以來都是John和Paul的組合，而他都被我們忽略了，因為在那之前他還不是個創作歌手”。 ^[3] 

合唱中的“Mr Wilson”和“Mr Heath”是Lennon的想法，説的是Harold Wilson和Edward Heath，工黨和保守黨領袖。Wilson是將The Beatles四個人提名為MBE的英國首相，唱出的這兩個名字替代原來的“nybody got a bit of money?”1996年的Anthology 2發行了這個早期版本，是歌曲的take 11。 ^[4] 

錄製開始於1966年4月20日，但未採用暗示的錄製版本，知道4月21日又錄製了10個新的take，其中有4個版本加入了鼓和貝斯，Harrison扭曲效果的節奏吉他，以及他的主唱和Lennon及McCartney的伴唱。錄製於6月21日結束。 ^[5]
