撇開這首歌的名氣，Noel 説這首歌的歌詞基本上就是胡扯，是在他們進錄音棚前的幾分鐘完成的。歌詞“she done it with a doctor ,on a helicopter ,she is sniffing in a tissue,selling the bigissue(我查了下 the big issue 是一份報紙的名字，很多無家可歸的人為賣這份報紙來餬口) ”對其中出現的人物 Elsa 引起了一些誤會。 Noel説，有人告訴我 supersonic是在講述青少年賣淫濫用藥物的歌曲，我説那是狗屎。 據Noel透露，Elsa是一隻有腸胃氣脹病的德國犬的名字，當時在寫歌的時候，它就在錄音棚裏，所以歌詞裏説“she is into Alka Seltzer”。

這首歌是在利物浦的 the pink museum 錄製的，本來樂隊的計劃是要為 Bring it on down 錄製一個Demo 的，但是他們總找不到感覺（get it right），所以Noel 就自己鑽進了一個房間裏，據他説，半小時內他就寫完了supersonic。Supersonic 給每個人都留下了深刻的印象，所以它被選為樂隊的首個單曲。Noel在一個採訪説透露，supersonic與眾不同的主音吉他部分並不是有意抄襲George Harrison 1971年的單曲 My sweet lord 的前奏。樂隊針對英國和美國市場給這首歌錄製了兩個版本的mv，英國版的mv是樂隊在一個屋頂演奏，和beatles 有名的屋頂演唱會有些相似。

在09年，在一個荷蘭電台的訪問中，Noel説，第一次聽到supersonic的時候，他 Liam，Guigsy，前鼓手 Tony McCarroll 統統跑到前吉他手 Paul Arthurs 的房間裏，因為這首歌總在BBC Radio 1 晚間一個固定的時間播放。（這幾個孩子剛出道的時候真不容易啊）

Noel 説“這首歌是是利物浦的一個晚上寫完和錄製的，我們本來是為McGee （他們的老闆）錄製Bring it on down 的demo，但是我們總也弄不好，我們必須做點什麼，所以我就跑到那個房間裏大約半個小時寫完了supersonic，它甚至從來都沒有混音過。”

這首歌在94年4月11日發行，在英國單曲榜中最高排名31位，這是oasis迄今為止排名最低的一隻單曲，但是這首歌的總銷量在英國可以排到最賣座單曲的13位，甚至超過了他們02年的冠軍單曲 the hindu times。94年12月10日，supersonic 在美國billboard 現代搖滾榜單中排到第十一位。這首歌也是oasis在Channel 4的 the word 節目中第一次在全國性的電視台演出的曲目，。這首歌也是樂隊和樂隊歌迷最喜歡的歌曲，在Definitely Maybe 的DVD中，Noel 説它是他最喜歡的歌，06年的時候這首歌在英國獲得英國單曲周榜第二名。

綠洲樂隊（OASIS）是一支1991年在曼徹斯特成立的英國搖滾樂隊。樂隊最初由Liam Gallagher（主唱，鼓手），Paul Arthurs（吉他），Paul McGuigan（貝司吉他）和Tony組成。麥卡羅爾返回曼徹斯特後和利亞姆的哥哥諾埃爾·加拉格爾（Noel Gallagher，主音吉他和人聲）加入了樂隊。 ^[2]
