一名叫史蒂夫·華萊士的詞曲創作者，聲稱他於1990年創作了《sometimes》，但直到布蘭妮·斯皮爾斯註冊歌曲版權4年後的2003年仍未註冊版權。華萊士還稱布蘭妮·斯皮爾斯已經承認他是詞曲的創作者，並出示了一份聲稱發送自布蘭妮的電子郵件，郵件上聲稱“現在我知道你寫了（《Sometimes》）的事實，但是我不能做什麼，這就是我能説的了”。而後來，這封電子郵件被指作假，史蒂夫·華萊士的訴訟也於2005年10月31日被駁回
