Riding shotgun起源美國西部歷史，那時駕馬車的人坐在右邊，路上會經常有劫匪，所以，總要有一個人坐在左邊副駕駛位置手裏拿一杆槍，以防萬一。從此以後，坐在車的副駕駛位子是就叫做ride shotgun（副駕駛）。
