Punky Meadows從小在華盛頓Bamaby Terrace街區（這裏曾產生了Danny Gatton、Roy Clark、Link Wray這樣的吉他傳奇）長大，是家裏邊四個孩子中最大的一個，就讀於Draper小學，Hart中學，中學時期他開始彈吉他並參加了他的第一個樂隊--the Intruders.之後，他組建了the English Setters,一個披頭士相關樂隊，為Yardbirds,Neil Diamond,the Young Rascals作開場，這都是他還在上中學時。1967年，the English Setters 改變了他們的聲音，並改名為the Cherry People,並且不久後與Heritage Records簽約。

之後，他組建了the English Setters,一個披頭士相關樂隊，為Yardbirds,Neil Diamond,the Young Rascals作開場，這都是他還在上中學時。1967年，the English Setters 改變了他們的聲音，並改名為the Cherry People,並且不久後與Heritage Records簽約。Meadows説這家唱片公司把他們作為“poor man's Monkees“來推廣。他們在1968年進行了短暫的巡迴演出，開始在凱撒宮演出並參加American Bandstand（一個美國電視節目）。

在Cherry People 解散後，Meadows和Mickie Jones組建了DaddyWarbux，之後又叫Bux，曾發表過一張專輯。在兩人遇到Gregg Giuffria和Barry Brandt、Frank Dimino後，Angel樂隊組建了起來，選擇這個名字是因為Jimi Hendrix的一首歌Angel，Meadows是他的崇拜者。

Angel從1975年到1979年發行正式錄製專輯，1980年發行了現場版專輯-----Live Without a Net 。在那之後的不久，樂隊解散，這支樂隊沒有取得很大的流行度也沒有受到大量批評。Meadows之後受邀請加入KISS樂隊，Aerosmith，New York Dolls，但他拒絕了。
這支樂隊形成了一種強烈的華麗形象，被認為與Kiss樂隊形成對偶。由於Meadows自身成了與這種華麗形象聯繫最緊密的人，過於美麗的樣子，招牌式的嘟嘴和好看的頭髮被Frank Zappa在Punky's Whips這首歌中進行了譏諷。
樂隊至今仍有很多歌迷網站，Meadows的歌迷有一個忠實於他的排他性的網站，叫做“Punky Meadows Shrine”（龐基麥樂斯聖殿）。

Angel樂隊之後：Meadows從音樂節引退，現在在維吉尼亞的Oakton經營TanFastic Tanning Club。
