妮莉·費塔朵表示，《Promiscuous》創作靈感來源於1980年代的流行音樂，歌曲的歌詞實際上是以一種“調情”的對話方式進行的，所以這也就是這首歌曲非常有趣的原因了 ^[3]  。在創作《Promiscuous》的過程中，Timbaland和Danja負責鍵盤樂器和鼓樂器，同時也負責和妮莉·費塔朵、Attitude、蒂姆·克萊頓、蒂姆·莫斯利編寫《Promiscuous》的詞曲。而在其他方面，Jim Beanz負責背景人聲 ^[1]  。

《Promiscuous》是專輯中的一大亮點歌曲 ^[5]  ，歌手的音域必須位於Ab₃和F₅之間 ^[6]  。儘管製作人並沒有使用過多不同的工具或音調來配合歌手的歌聲節拍，但歌曲的大部分節奏都能讓聽者隨性起舞 ^[7]  。此外，雖然歌曲的內容與“性”有關，但是妮莉·費塔朵唱的並不是很性感，因此無法讓人產生身體上的感覺 ^[8]  。

MV主要拍攝了妮莉·費塔朵、Timbaland與一羣舞者在俱樂部夜店裏或貼身、或搖擺跳舞的畫面，MV的畫面顏色由藍、綠、紅、黃四色不斷進行交替。MV按照妮莉·費塔朵要求，主要注重於跳舞、調情的場景體現，並不遵循故事情節發展，因為她想再現歌曲中的指示性氛圍，並利用這個機會使用“電影”形式拍攝一部“俱樂部MV”。另外， 在MV中也有賈斯汀·汀布萊克、肖恩·法瑞斯、凱莉·希爾森、Director X友情客串 ^[9-10]  。
