2020年初，24K純金去伊恩·迪奧家玩射擊遊戲《使命召喚》的時候，製作人奧梅爾·費迪和基根·巴赫碰巧正在隔壁的房間裏做着《Mood》的音樂節奏。

而24K純金在聽到音樂節奏後，便下意識的跟着哼曲，即興發揮哼出了《Mood》的副歌歌詞：“你為什麼總是心情不好？特麼的到處亂晃，喜怒無常，我不想告訴你該怎麼做，只想冷靜下來，我不是按你的規則來，視野開闊，一切更精彩”。

奧梅爾·費迪在聽到24K純金哼唱的一段副歌后，立刻立刻跑過來把兩個人的遊戲給關了，他建議大家把歌曲做出來。最後，24K純金和伊恩·迪奧只得被趕進錄音棚裏把歌寫出來，並且當天就完成了歌曲的所有錄製 ^[2]  。中國説唱歌手小鬼的混音版本，由陳令韜操刀製作，他將嘻哈音樂的旋律演奏法改變成了真實樂隊的演奏法 ^[4]  。

儘管《Mood》是兩位年輕人的合作曲目，但若説整首歌爆紅的主要原因，就是24K純金那段狠狠咬住聽眾耳朵的副歌，一點不誇張。《Mood》確實是一支不折不扣的“暢銷歌曲”，但這並不影響它首先是一首讓人聽完心情愉悦、刷牙都跟着唱到口吐白沫的音樂佳作 ^[2]  。該歌曲符合夏末波普舞的審美，帶有朗朗上口的Hook，兩位合作者之間產生了自然的化學反應 ^[11]  。
