Joe Cocker

1944年5月20日出生於英格蘭約克郡謝菲爾德。首先用Vance Arnold此名字成為流行歌手，但是不成功。之後他尋找到自己的邊緣音樂搖滾優勢，開始在英格蘭的酒館裏和自己的樂隊演出，此樂隊叫Grease Band。

1968年11月，Joe以其翻唱的一首披頭士樂隊的“A Little Help from My Friends”登上全英國第一的位置。而在1969年8月在紐約舉行的伍德斯托克（Woodstock）音樂節上，Joe又以這首歌展開了他輝煌的音樂事業。

1968年秋天，Joe的第2次大獲成功受益於他唱的一首Delta Lady（此歌為Joe的音樂指導Leon Russell所作）和他的其他2張專輯“With a Little Help from My Friends”(1969年4月)和“Joe Cocker!” (1969年11月), 這讓他得到了美國的金獎。

1970年，Joe “Box Top”的主打歌“The Letter”讓他躋身全美前十。在Joe的音樂指導Leon組織了“Mad Dogs & Englishmen瘋狗和英國人”的巡迴演出後達到了巔峯。這次巡演包括Joe和其他40位歌手，囊括了第三次金獎專輯並獲得了音樂會電影的演出機會。

此後Joe由於酗酒使其嗓音受到損傷，專輯也不如之前受歡迎。然而Joe在1975年又以一首浪漫的抒情歌曲“you are so beautiful”進入全美前十，與Jennifer Warnes合唱“Up where we belong”並列第一。20世紀90年代，雖然不如70，80年代活躍，Joe仍現身歌壇，直至現在。

自從1997年發行了“Across from midnight”,“No ordinary World”緊接其後。2002年發行了“Respect Yourself”，2004年發行了專輯整合“Heart & Soul”。歐洲版的“Hymn for My Soul”2007年在Parlophone出版，主要收錄了其他歌手的一些主打歌曲包括Stevie Wonder, George Harrison, Bob Dylan,和John Fogerty。
