Hero創作背景
1992年，哥倫比亞電影公司拍攝電影《小人物大英雄》（英文名：Hero），原本製作方希望讓瑪麗亞·凱莉為本片演唱主題曲，但是由於檔期版權等問題，製作公司決定邀請瑪麗亞·凱莉的唱片製作人華特亞·凡瑟夫為影片寫一首歌，並邀請葛洛麗亞·伊斯特芬演唱。
錄製專輯期間華特亞·凡瑟夫向瑪麗亞·凱莉提到了這件事，為瑪麗亞·凱莉帶來了創作靈感，於是花了不到兩小時就寫下了這首歌。由於當時他們認為歌曲是由葛洛麗亞·伊斯特芬來演唱，因此在風格上就完全沒有考慮瑪麗亞·凱莉本人的偏好。就在他們完成這首歌時，剛好經過的湯米·摩托拉（瑪麗亞·凱莉前夫）聽到。湯米·摩托拉隨後反對將這首歌交與電影方，堅持瑪麗亞·凱莉本人演唱歌曲
