Grateful Dead

1966年樂隊已在地下樂壇名聲顯赫，他們的音樂無所不包從小調到硬搖滾。1967年夏天樂隊參加了雷蒙德音樂節，並被譽為音樂界上最好的樂隊。同年樂隊發行了第一張同名專輯，被稱為用布魯斯演唱的迷幻搖滾。1968年因與簽約公司關係不好而使得第二張專輯《Anthem of the Sun》並不出色。1967年到1969年之間樂隊進行了巡演並推出了第三張專輯《Aoxomoxoa》成績依然不理想。1970年推出了現場雙專輯《Live/Dead》，《Workingman’s Dead》及《American Beauty》均獲得了成功，其中後兩張專輯是樂隊歷史上銷量最大的專輯。在此後樂隊及樂隊成員都出了許多專輯，並一直進行着巡演。在這期間的專輯《In the Dark》被認為是最好的作品，併為樂隊贏得了第一首熱門歌曲“Touch of Gery”。1995年Jerry Garcia去世，樂隊宣佈解散。The Grateful Dead系統的把自由自在的一種音樂形式引入了搖滾樂，他們的音樂表明了他們在不斷的發展自己的音樂理想。
