《God is a Woman》是《Sweetener》最後一首完成錄製的歌曲。卡米拉·卡貝洛曾試聽過該曲，但並未採用。薩文科·特查決定將這首歌交給像奧布瑞·德雷克·格瑞漢的饒舌歌手來演唱，但是歌曲的名字為“上帝是個女人”，所以創作者認為一個女歌手演唱會比較好。愛莉安娜·格蘭德在舉辦專輯《Sweetener》試聽會的前兩天來錄音室閒逛，製作人伊利亞·薩爾曼扎德給她放了這首歌。她一聽鍾情，回家就寫出了歌詞，隨即錄製了這首歌
