《Ghosttown》詞曲由麥當娜·西科尼、傑森·維根、肖恩·道格拉斯、埃文·鮑嘉合作編寫。麥當娜當時聽了道格拉斯與他和其他的詞曲作者的作品對此很欣賞，於是他們就在三天的時間內完成了一首流行的歌謠。這首歌的靈感來自於世界末日後城市背破壞的意象，世界末日後那些倖存者和他們的愛將何去何從 ^[4]  。

《Ghosttown》是一首較平緩的歌曲，在結構方面，歌曲具每分鐘79次的温和節拍。 歌曲以d小調為主，麥當娜的人聲從F₃跨越到B♭₄。 這首歌的主歌遵循Dm-F-C-Gm的旋律，副歌遵循B♭-F-C-Dm的旋律 ^[7]  。而羅恩·泰勒做了額外的修飾。

《Ghosttown》的MV由喬納斯·阿克倫德掌鏡，男主角由特倫斯·霍華德出演。錄影帶大部分採用了黑暗和鬱的基調。麥當娜和特倫斯在錄影帶中扮演了兩個在核爆炸中的倖存者，兩人上演了絕世戀情。錄影帶中，霍華德看見麥當娜在屋外徘徊，所以並拿步槍瞄準了麥當娜。但是，他意識到麥當娜沒有危險，霍華德就開始尋找麥當娜，兩人終於見面，並上演了激情的探戈。錄影帶也留下了很多懸念，因為他們身邊多了一個小男孩。” ^[8]
