Dr. Dre和Eminem將作為特別顧問幫助製作50-Cent的新專輯。之前媒體曾經報道，50分的08新專輯《Before I Self Destruct》將於12月9日發行上架，金牌製作人斯科特·斯托克（Scott Storch）將擔綱製作該專輯的首支單曲《Get Up》。

專輯還包括一部長達90分鐘圍繞Clarence展開的電影，Clarence住在城市中心區，他的母親被人殺害他每天都在想着怎樣復仇。這部電影由50分自編、自導、自演，網友們現在就能在網上看到這部電影的試看片斷。

“我的電影表現了殘酷的事實，而這些現實的東西是現代社會的真實寫照。有些觀眾可能馬上就會因為電影中的角色產生共鳴，而有些人恐怕會對城市中心區如此殘酷的現實感到震驚。這部電影同時獻給這兩個受眾羣，”50分在聲明中表示。

今年50分選擇新專輯的推出時間和坎耶·韋斯特僅隔一週，可能去年的專輯銷量大戰又將重演，不知兩人到底誰能佔領市場。然而，今年坎耶彷彿要避開這種強勁勢頭的競爭，他最近宣佈自己的新專輯將由12月9日提前到11月25日發行。

去年9月兩人在11日分別發行了自己的新專輯，韋斯特的《Graduation》以95.7萬的銷量超過了50分的69.1萬銷量的《Curtis》
