Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know

1999年布蘭妮在瑞士和瑞典開始為她的第二張錄音室專輯進行錄製工作 ^{[1]  [2]}  。在瑞士和Robert Lange會面之後，布蘭妮錄製了一些歌曲，其中就包括這首"Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know"。在結束完錄製後，布蘭妮在一次接受Billboard採訪中説道：“在第一張專輯中，我並沒有很全面地展現出我的聲音。那些歌曲都很棒很偉大，但是並沒有很大的挑戰難度。這首歌曲（"Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know"）很不可思議，會以最好的方式驚豔大家的” ^[1]  。1999年11月和12月，布蘭妮在坐落在瑞士的La-Tour-de Peilz的Robert Lange和Shania Twain的城堡中錄製了該曲。隨後由Nigel Green進行歌曲合成，程序製作則是Cory Churko, Kevin Churko ，Richard Meyer三人合力完成。

在收錄在布蘭妮第二個家庭錄影帶Live and More的夏威夷的音樂演唱會期間,布蘭妮説這首歌曲是她第二張專輯中最喜歡的曲目之一。

2001年1月17日，Jive唱片公司將其作為專輯中的第四支單曲也是最後一支主打單曲發行。
