Centuries

《Centuries》是Pete Wentz、Patrick Stump、Joe Trohman、Andy Hurley、J.R. Rotem、Justin Tranter、Raja Kumari與Michael Fonseca在2014年年中譜寫的，被Omega和Rotem生產。歌曲是當Fall Out Boy和美國的樂隊Paramore一起進行monumentour活動時創作的 ^[4-5]  。

Pete Went在被《Kerrang!》採訪時，解稱歌曲來源於聖經中大衞大戰歌利亞的故事，想要寫首關於有些奇怪的能人。 ^[6] 

《Centuries》取樣了樂團自創唱片廠牌DCD2 Records旗下女歌手Lolo翻唱自Suzanne Vega的1987年暢銷曲《Tom's Diner》 ^[6]  。Patrick Stump闡述樂隊想向流行歌曲文化中注入如"Tom's Diner"中的元素。

Fall Out Boy樂隊和Paramore樂隊2014年9月4日結束monumentour，Fall Out Boy樂隊用摩爾斯電碼發佈預告的歌曲名稱。英國廣播公司第一電台於2014年9月8日發佈歌曲，第二天全球正式發佈。

《Centuries》在音樂評論家們那裏普遍受到了好評。Fall out boy這隻芝加哥的組合，其歌曲都充滿着很強的力量感。單曲《Centuries》更是如此。一出場便如同盛裝舞步一般華麗，濃重的節奏感伴隨着整首歌曲，讓人熱血沸騰。MTV稱這首歌是音軌的終極吶喊 ^[10]  。Under the Gun稱Fall Out Boy樂隊依靠這首歌完成了從流行朋克巨人到真正流行巨星的飛躍 ^[11]  。Vidette對此歌有個積極的評價，稱《Centuries》顯示出一定的流行氛圍，並沒有受到樂隊早期專輯的影響。Fall Out Boy似乎更沉下心思依照他們的音樂理念製作出他們的這部專輯。 ^[12]  B-Sides on Air也為這首歌叫好，注意到它引領當代廣播的發展趨勢並稱之為“樂隊為音樂注入了一種新的電子元素，開啓了下一步的音樂之旅”。 ^[13] 

《Centuries》官方MV發佈於2014年10月17日，其中展示的是Fall Out Boy樂隊成員和客串的説唱歌手Rick Ross在角鬥場裏大戰的場景。MV中包含豐富的基督教意象和主題元素，場景中包括與歌曲“Centuries”中的“T”形狀相同的十字架，四名弱者聯合使用彈弓擊中強敵頭部而獲勝（指希伯來神話故事中大衞大戰歌利亞的故事），觀戰者中包括一個美麗的女性、一個全身盔甲的男性和一個張開天使般的白色翅膀的人類。“巨人”由加拿大演員Jon Ambrose飾演，角鬥士由Simu Liu、Ben Devries、Sebastian Deery和Paul Ebejer飾演。MV拍攝現場在加拿大安大略金斯敦的亨利堡國家歷史遺址。 ^[14] 

官方MV發佈之前，Fall Out Boy在芝加哥拍攝了一個視頻並於2014年9月8日在移動應用上傳。 ^[15]
