後來發展成四重唱組合，最後演變成三重唱組合。天命真女的首支錄音歌曲“Killing Time”在《黑衣人》（Men in Black）的電影原音帶中率先曝光。天命真女的首張同名專輯“天命真女”在1998年2月17日推出。天命真女的唱片及單曲創下了五千萬的銷售記錄。2005年6月12日，天命真女宣佈在西班牙巴塞羅那舉行演唱會之後，宣佈解散，追求各自的音樂、戲劇、電視和電影事業。

2001年最新專輯“Survivor”是Destiny's Child樂壇生涯的第三張專輯，也是她們更換新血並精簡縮編為三人之後的首張鉅作。專輯中共收錄18首全新作品，其中除了“Emotion”一曲是重新翻唱Bee Gees的名曲外，其餘的17首新作全是由Beyonce與人共同譜寫製作完成，而她的音樂創作及製作功力，亦早已藉由“Independent Women Part I‘這首席捲全球的冠軍單曲而獲得最佳認證。此輯中不僅收錄了“Independent Women Part I”這首為電影《霹靂嬌娃》所量身打造、一舉拿下全美單曲排行11周冠軍的超級單曲，還有以超強的點播人氣便強勢挺進全美流行單曲榜亞軍席次的2001年首支全新單曲“Survivor”；以及節奏俏皮好比卡通配樂的“Independent Women Part II”；展現優美和音的“Emotion”；取樣'80年代紅透全球的歐式舞曲名作Tarzan Boy的“Nasty Girl”。更有將多首經典福音歌曲重新詮釋而成的“Gospel Medley”。“Survivor”再次引爆DC熱。主打音樂“Survivor”成為排行榜熱門單曲，專輯內第三首作品“Bootylicious”的歌名則被牛津詞典作為新單詞收錄。
