2009年是新中國成立60週年華誕，60年來中國考古事業穩步發展、開拓向前，繼承發揚了優良的學術傳統，吸取了國內外文化遺產保護的先進理念，成為保證國民經濟建設快速發展和實現社會主義文化大發展大繁榮的重要力量。2009年度36項目,重要考古發現，是從全年500餘項考古發掘項目中精選出來的，遴選標準仍是注重其中藴含的歷史信息、學術價值和考古工作的新理念、新方法。

江蘇邳州梁王城遺址大汶口文化中晚期墓地的發現，填補了蘇北地區大汶口文化中晚期及其向龍山文化過渡的考古學文化空白。杭州餘杭玉架山遺址是首次揭露的長江下游地區新石器時代的環壕聚落遺址，為研究良渚文化小型完整聚落提供了珍貴的資料。湖北孝感葉家廟城址是在鄂東北部發現的首座新石器時代晚期城址，豐富了我們對長江中游史前城址的認識。四川屏山向家壩庫區叫化巖遺址的文化內涵具有自身的特點，是川南地區金沙江下游一種全新的考古學文化類型，對於建立四川地區新石器時代文化的譜系具有重要意義。

山東高青陳莊西周城址對於研究“豐”與齊國的關係以及早期齊國的歷史具有重要價值。河南滎陽娘娘寨兩週時期城址填補了鄭州地區西周文化遺存的空白。香港屯門掃管笏遺址包含相當於商周時期、漢代以及明代的文化遺存，為研究香港的歷史文化及其與華南地區的文化關係提供了重要資料。

雲南澄江金蓮山墓地複雜的葬式和特殊的葬俗為滇池區域青銅時代文化的研究提供了珍貴資料。 ^[1]
