馬里奧·德沃·巴瑞特

Mario成長在馬里蘭州的巴爾的摩，生活在一個普通人的家庭。他和他的祖母一起生活，而他的單身母親陷入了毒癮。在他4歲的那年,他説想成為一名歌星。他的母親為了支持他的夢想,買了一台卡拉OK機。Mario在新澤西州的提內克讀中學的時候，和Mo'Nique(美國女演員)，和最好的朋友Jaye Brebnor，還有他年輕的乾妹妹Chea Tyler一起加入了音樂團體。在他的音樂生涯裏他一直很投入音樂中。他學會了用鋼琴，並用鋼琴去創作旋律和歌曲。他11歲那年參加美國寇平州立大學的達人秀，隨後被音樂製作人Troy Patterson發現。Mario進學院讀到高中十年級（相當於國內的高一或高二），14歲的他受到音樂老師的鼓舞，還受到J Records總裁Clive Davis的喜愛，與唱片公司J Records簽約。他的音樂受Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, Usher, Joe影響。

2002年在2002年的格萊美典禮翻唱Stevie Wonder的經典名曲"You and I"，有着不錯的表現，並開始錄製他的第一張專輯。 ^[1] 

在《舞出我人生》中飾演Miles Darby(2006)。在《自由作家》中飾演Andre Bryant(2007)。在《Destination Fame 》中飾演Wizzy(2009)。

2002年7月，Mario的第一張專輯出版了。主打曲“Just A Friend 2002”，脱胎自HIP-HOP傳奇人物Biz Markie發表八九年的暢銷單曲“Just A Friend”，致敬意味濃厚。接下來發行的單曲有"Braid My Hair" 和"C'mon"。專輯推出後獲得了Billboard專輯排行榜第九名和R&B/Hip-Hop專輯排行榜季軍的好成績。直到2006年，他的第一張專輯賣出70萬張。

在第一張專輯發行以後，Mario開始為第二張專輯做準備。他請一些著名的音樂製作人幫助他，例如Scott Storch和Lil' Jon。第二張專輯在2004年12月7日成功發行。第二張專輯中的大熱單曲"Let Me Love You"，Ne-Yo作曲，被評論家描述為“輕快的旋律和甜美,讓人聯想到邁克爾·傑克遜老式浪漫歌謠”，連續9周在Billboard Hot 100中排第一，創下一億八千五百萬人次的聽眾收聽紀錄，成功刷新了Usher"Yeah"的1億7千兩百八十萬人次，榮登樂史新高。接下來發行的單曲有"How Could You"、"Here I Go Again"和"Boom"。第二張專輯和大熱單曲已經賣出了白金銷量。

2006年2月，Mario對他的前任經理人Troy Patterson提起訴訟，因為Troy Patterson對Mario説給他5萬美金就能把唱片達到300萬張銷量，Mario發現這是不對的。後來被Patterson起訴。Mario的新經理人是J. Erving，他是由Mario選出來的人。

Mario的第三張專輯是獻給他的母親Shawntia Hardaway。第三張專輯在2007年10月9日率先在南非的Gallo唱片發行，隨後在2007年12月11日在美國發行。該專輯原定於06年11月28號以"Mario Barrett - Effortless"的專輯名來發行。這本應該是Mario用全名推出的第一張專輯。之後發行的日期一次次推遲，包括：4月4號、5月8號、7月31號、8月21號、10月9號和11月27號，很有諷刺意味的比原定日期晚了整整一年。與DJ "Z"的訪談中，Mario説因為唱片公司的問題，唱片發行推遲了6~8個月。

專輯特約製作人Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Bryan-Michael Cox, The Neptunes, Sean Garrett,Timbaland和Akon等輕易的讓Mario圓滑性感的心靈與R&B、hip hop融合在一起，突出了Mario多面性的嗓音。

這是Mario第一張藴含Parental Advisory標籤的專輯，因為專輯中的歌曲有成人口氣的歌詞。正式推出的第一支單曲"How Do I Breathe"的音樂視頻以於07年5月23號在BET首播。在Mario的官方網頁上，Mario讓歌迷從"Why", "Kryptonite"或者"Crying Out For Me"中投票選出一首作為接下來推出的單曲。第二支正式推出的單曲是"Crying Out For Me"，它的音樂視頻於07年9月17號同樣在BET播出，並獲得了RIAA的金單曲唱片認證。在一次接受DJBooth採訪時，Mario透漏了他與Akon聯手打造的名為"Do Right"的內省歌曲的消息。這首歌曲展現了Mario對他媽媽的複雜感情。第三張專輯賣出了331540張。

第四張專輯邀請了Babyface ,Polow da Don, Stargate,The-Dream等製作人製作。Mario説要做世界音樂，並將老的R&B和現代舞曲結合起來。專輯主打曲"Break Up"在Hot R&B/Hip-Hop中排第二名和在Billboard Hot 100中排第15名，獲得了RIAA的金單曲唱片認證。第二張單曲"Thinkin' About You"在Hot R&B/Hip-Hop中排第45名。"Stranded"本來打算作為第三張單曲的，後來取消了，雖然2010年1月該單曲在Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop排行榜排第84名。之後"Ohh Baby"成為了第三張單曲，在Billboard Hot 100 排行榜排第95名。專輯銷量在Billboard 200中排第九名，在第一個星期賣出了38000張，成為了有史以來Mario在美國的最低銷量，也許唱片業不景氣是一個原因。到目前為止，專輯在美國賣出了93385張。

2011年單曲"The Walls"和"My Bed"已經推出。2013年5月發佈與Nicki Minaj合作新單曲"Somebody else"（一單），二單單曲Fatal Distraction將與J.Cole合作。第五張新專輯將在2013年9月~10月發行，大家敬請期待！ ^[1] 

Knightwritaz是Mario創立的音樂製作團隊，成員有Sterling Simms, Warren "Oak" Felder ,Marsha of Floetry。曾為Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, Jordin Sparks, Usher還有Raven-Symoné寫曲、作曲。

基金會成立於2008年3月，基金會主要是教育和鼓勵孩子們去解決父母吸毒的問題。"Do Right"這首歌成為了基金會的主題曲。

目前Mario都有做模特。

Mario提到"Soul Truth Entertainment" 是他的新的娛樂經紀公司。

Mario幫助PETA組織(善待動物組織)提出"Ink, Not Mink"（只要紋身，不要貂皮）的宣言，希望大家要保護動物。

於2008年2月參加第六季的Dancing with the Stars，同伴是Karina Smirnoff。他們在第八週被淘汰出局。 ^[1]
