古靈精怪的猴王在蓋世五俠中是幽默和熱情的象徵，而比那有些過火的幽默感還要出色的就是，猴王的功夫！在阿寶莫名其妙地當上“神龍大俠”後，猴王對他就很友善。別看平時面對阿寶的搞怪他就咯咯笑，但真到了緊要關頭，猴王也會全力拼殺的。

猴王小時候在村落裏是個小淘氣，他一直在為曾經取笑一個小孩兒而懊惱不已；村裏的人們實在忍受不了他到處惹事生非，便打算將他趕走。幸虧這時，烏龜大師前來帶走了他，他教會了猴王撇開玩鬧的本性，學會同情，由此開始了影響他一生的課程。
