賈格迪什·巴格沃蒂

1956年畢業於劍橋大學聖約翰學院，隨後就讀於麻省理工學院和牛津大學納菲爾德學院，師從薩繆爾森、索羅以及希克斯和麥克道格爾。 ^[1]  之後返回印度統計局任職，並擔任德里大學國際貿易和經濟學教授。1980年至今一直執教於美國哥倫比亞大學，擔任該校A·雷曼(Arthur Lehman)經濟學教授和政治學教授。巴格沃蒂教授曾經擔任過關貿總協定的經濟政策顧問、聯合國全球化特別顧問和世界貿易組織顧問。他於1971年和1989年先後創辦《國際經濟學》和《經濟學和政治學》雜誌，曾任美國經濟協會副主席和美國社會科學院院士。

巴格沃蒂教授的研究方向主要集中於國際貿易、福利經濟學和財政學等領域，是國際貿易領域最重要的理論家之一。

巴格沃蒂教授的論文《國內扭曲，關税和最適度政府補貼理論》被證明是國際貿易理論史上最有影響力的一篇論文；而《扭曲和福利通論》一文則開創了國際經濟學的一個新領域。巴格沃蒂教授在國際經濟學領域的地位，使他一度成為“關税”、“配額”、“走私”、 “一般均衡狀態的有效保護”、“國際移民和貨物運輸”等詞彙的代名詞。

巴格沃蒂效應：即勞動力成本的上漲導致勞動密集型企業產品價格相對( 資本密集型企業) 過快上漲。
