英文疑難詳解

錢歌川（1903—1990），原名慕祖，筆名歌川、味橄等。湖南湘潭人。著名的散文家、翻譯家、英語學者。1920年赴日留學。1930年進上海中華書局做編輯，曾參與創辦《新中華》雜誌,並擔任《中華英語半月刊》主編,在此期間,將大量精力放在英語讀物的翻譯、編寫、出版方面。1936年入英國倫敦大學研究英美語言文學。1939年回國後任武漢、東吳等大學教授。曾與魯迅、茅盾、田漢、郭沫若、郁達夫等文化名人交往，參與文化運動。1947年春，前往台北創辦台灣大學文學院並任院長。六十年代赴新加坡，先後任義安學院、新加坡大學和南洋大學中文系教授。1972年底，以70高齡退出講台，後移居美國紐約。

錢歌川一生髮表了大量散文與英語教學資料，包括《翻譯的基本知識》《翻譯的技巧》《英文疑難詳解》《英文疑難詳解續篇》《論翻譯》《簡易英文文法》《簡易英文動詞》《美國日用英語》《英語造句例解》等，影響深遠。
