形容急切盼望。①元 無名氏《飛刀對箭》第一折：“每日家苦淹淹守定這座 大黃莊 ，空着我便眼巴巴盼不到長安 道。”②明 《殺狗記·親弟移屍》：“許多時緣何未歸，眼巴巴倚着門閭。”③《官場現形記》第十九回：“正欽差亦在那裏，眼巴巴的望信哩。”④ 茅盾《報施》三：“家裏人眼巴巴望他帶回大把的錢。”⑤《第一次真好》第四段：“我和孩子們便眼巴巴地等候小鳥孵出來。” ^[1] 

形容眼看着不如意的事發生而無可奈何。①《西遊記》第二二回：“那大聖保着唐僧 ，立於左右，眼巴巴的望着他兩個在水上爭持，只是他不好動手。” ^[2]  ②《説唐》第二一回：“ 王小二 目定口呆，眼巴巴看他把三十枝毛竹拖去了，又不敢上前扯住他，只得忍耐。”③ 鄒韜奮《歐戰爆發與遠東的關係》： 張伯倫如從大夢中驚醒，眼巴巴地望着一手培植起來的 “希特勒 ”不向東進，卻西向和自己爭奪殖民地，打到自己頭上來了！
