波士頓大學

波士頓大學是一所創辦於1839年的私立研究型大學。

波士頓圖書館（Mugar Memorial Library）系統由23座圖書館組成，擁有250萬冊藏書，45,264種期刊和460萬件縮微資料，除此之外，還擁有大量的專刊、電子信息資源、和其它非文本式資料。波士頓大學圖書館把教學、學習、研究及學生生活很好地融在了一起，另外還有一些較特殊的資料，如：主題領域的相關信息、課程內容、展示現有收藏資料的優勢及不足、考試內容鑑定的回顧、學生和教師的建議等。圖書館系統不斷地擴大着收藏資料的數量和範圍，以滿足課程和研究的需要。

非洲研究圖書館擁有極為豐富的材料，它是研究非洲的學者，以及個人或組織非學術組織研究非洲的信息來源。

天文學圖書館毗鄰天文學院，圖書館支持本科和研究生研究學習天文學，並收集、使用天文書籍和先進基因體書籍，也包括空間物理書籍，更新天文學相關大約50個期刊，還藏有一個精妙的天文地圖。同時支持工程學學生的研究。

畢比通訊圖書館提供管理信息教學和商業管理資源。圖書館的收藏品包括出版物和電子材料產品，範圍涵蓋商務管理，衞生保健管理、非營利組織管理，商業道德，企業精神，信息系統管理。

樂庫是一個集研發支持西方藝術音樂中、音樂教育、實踐和民族音樂學性能的機構。圖書館藏有包括2萬本書，100種音樂期刊、100多種錄像帶，5000個不同的音樂網站，和20多個研究指南。收集的理論和研究教育書籍也位於Mugar紀念圖書館。

科學工程圖書館館藏資源是學校主要的研究、教學、及研究查爾斯河相關信息的渠道。

醫學圖書館為波士頓醫學中心的全體教職員工和學生提供醫學、口腔醫學、衞生的相關資料。

波士頓大學不但擁有一流的師資、設備，也擁有健全的學科體系。

全校共有16個學院：

共包括兩百五十個以上不同的科系，是非常完整的綜合大學。

傳播類：享有很大聲譽，出色校友無數，是全美第一所開設公共關係的大學。（根據College Factual：最佳本科新聞學院全美第二，最佳本科新聞項目全美第三）

生物醫學工程（Biomedical Engineering）：全美排名前十。

商科：管理學院出過很多知名校友，並且以畢業生素質好聞名。2015年，原管理學院（School of Management）正式更名為Questrom School of Business。

工程類：學院畢業生受各公司歡迎。

經濟：US news全美排名21，2021QS world全球排名44。

法律：全美排名第20位, 2021QSworld全球排名51-100。

音樂：在2014年被美國權威音樂雜誌Musical America評選為全球最傑出的54間音樂學院之一（排名不分先後）。 ^[7] 

波士頓大學很好的讓學生們把實踐和理論相結合，以便更好的理解和消化所學的知識，同學們可以隨時在校園裏找到打工工作，假期裏面還有多不勝數的實習機會。每週學校裏面都會舉行各種講座讓各位成功校友或者其他成功人士來講述在職業場上的各類注意事項。同學們在此類講座中可以更好的瞭解職業背景和社會現狀。當然各式各樣的學術講座也能幫助學生們瞭解相關知識。

波士頓大學最出名的是它的Study Abroad（留學海外）計劃。每年都有很多學生有機會去西班牙、以色列、巴西、倫敦、巴黎、悉尼、上海、洛杉磯、紐約、華盛頓等地進行學習以及實習。同學們可以在當地學習最有效的專業知識。比如在洛杉磯傳播學院的同學們可以在製片場內學習最先進的方法與技巧，在倫敦藝術學院的同學們可以學到最地道的英倫文化。在此類實習或學習計劃中 同學們可以在開拓視野的同時學習到豐富的知識。

波士頓大學的課程設置也很有特色，幾乎每個學院的同學們都要在修專業課之前學習社會科學自然科學，人文學科。通過學習這些學科，同學們可以更深層次的思考問題，也培養了興趣對以後的生活與工作提供幫助。

波士頓大學還要求每個同學修寫作課，寫作課分不同的話題，涉及文學，歷史，文化，科學等等甚至還有孔夫子與波士頓和東方英雄文化（武俠）等有趣話題。同學們可以在寫作課上探討看法，並且鍛鍊自己的寫作技巧。提升寫作技巧對所有人的學術和職業都很有幫助。

波士頓大學將大課教學和小課教學充分結合：一般簡單的基礎課都採用大課模式，幾十人的講座（lecture）上老師講知識，在十幾人的研討（discussion）上有助教複習知識重點和解答疑問；高級課和專業課一般是十幾人的小課，同學們可以在小課上感受到精英的感覺。

在2020年Best Value Schools發佈的全球畢業走向最好大學排名中，位列第12位 ^[5]  。

在Value Colleges發佈的大數據背景下的商業分析專業排名中，位列全美第5位 ^[6]  。

2009年 《經濟學人》 把波士頓大學商學院列為全球第21。

2005年，波士頓大學錢卓教授和華東師大林龍年博士合作，首次破譯了大腦記憶密碼。

2004年，波士頓大學設立了“熊曉鴿新聞終身成就獎”，這是中國留學生在美國主流大學以個人名義設立的第一個專業大獎。該獎的設立人熊曉鴿曾於20世紀80年代在波士頓大學新聞傳播學院學習，現為美國國際數據集團全球高級副總裁。

2016年5月6日，波士頓大學時任校長Robert Brown與清華大學校長邱勇先生簽署了系統工程專業雙學位項目合作協議。新的雙學位項目允許清華大學系統工程專業的本科畢業生在波士頓大學工程學院繼續深造，攻讀碩士學位。 ^[8] 

2018年5月20日，中國導演張藝謀獲美國波士頓大學頒授人文藝術榮譽博士學位，校方説，授予張藝謀人文藝術榮譽博士學位，主要是表揚這位中國導演在電影及其他藝術上“為世界文化的傳承與綿延、豐富與繁榮做出了不容忽視且難以磨滅的貢獻”。 ^[15] 

該校籃球校隊與其他八所位於新英格蘭地區、紐約州及馬里蘭州的大學共同屬於“美東聯盟”（America East Conference）； 冰球校隊屬於“冰球東部協會”（Hockey East Association）；並參與“北美十三州體育協會”（Colonial Athletic Association）及“東部大學體育聯盟”（Eastern College Athletic Conference）等約十種男女室內外體育競賽，包括足球、壘球、曲棍球、賽艇、户外賽跑、游泳等。正式參與競賽等級均屬美國“全國大學體育協會”（National Collegiate Athletic Association）第一級（Division I）。

2009年，男子冰球校隊贏得全國總冠軍。

校隊主色是猩紅色，暱稱為“梗犬”（Terriers），吉祥物名喚“瑞德”（Rhett），是條項圈帶刺、叉手咧嘴的小獵犬。“瑞德”命名的靈感，來自美國1930年代暢銷小説《飄》（Gone With the Wind）中的經典名句：“世上再沒人比瑞德更愛思嘉了。”（No one loves Scarlet more than Rhett.）。書中女主角郝思嘉（Scarlet O'Hara）的名字，恰與猩紅色英文同字；而“瑞德”即源自男主角白瑞德（Rhett Butler）的名字。

波士頓大學位於美國獨立革命的發源地新英格蘭（New England）地區最大城市波士頓，是英國清教徒最早登陸新大陸的地點。此區共有56所院校，其中包括哈佛大學、麻省理工學院等名校及多所音樂及藝術專業學院。波士頓大學地理位置方便，在交通上有大眾運輸系統MBTA，包括地鐵、電車、巴士、火車都可以搭乘。
