柳園裏

《柳園裏》，是葉芝早年的詩作。他的早年詩歌韻律優美，感情細膩，辭藻華麗，象徵意味濃郁，明顯受到英國浪漫主義和法國象徵主義詩歌的影響。 這首詩象民歌那樣語言質樸，可詠性強。其次，這首詩在時態的運用上也有獨特之處。全詩除了最後半行用現在時以外都是用過去時態。這説明過去對人們的現在具有十分重要的意義。在詩的最後，詩人用一般現在時是意味深長的。雖然對現在情況的描述只有五個詞便戛然而止，但是，由於詩人把這幾個詞放在全詩最突出的位置，所以給人以意猶未盡的感覺，讀者可以通過這幾個詞來感受“我”的廣闊的心靈世界。

Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
