文森特

《Vincent》最早問世在1982年，片長只有5分多鐘，講的是一個叫Vincent的小男孩，幻想自己是一名著名的恐怖片演員，飾演將妻子活埋後不堪精神重負的兇手。現實與幻想不斷交錯形成戲劇張力，小男孩在自己幻想的愛倫.坡式結尾中“死去”。這個叫文森特的小男孩很孤獨，他的腦子裏充滿了各式各樣的古怪而新奇的念頭，但卻受到成人社會的壓抑，他陷入到深深的孤獨之中，活在冥想中那充滿鬼怪的世界裏。這部短片可以説奠定了蒂姆·波頓以後動畫電影的基調，包含了他標誌性的所有元素和歌特式的風格。哥特式的電影場景，哥特式的狗，哥特式的孩子，戀屍癖，埋葬的新娘，所有的特徵都表達的淋漓盡致。配音也呈現了蒂姆·波頓動畫電影中人物特有的語言節奏。整個短片有着讓人一見難忘的黑色狂想氣氛。（為本片配音的正是著名恐怖片演員Vincent Price，而此片也正是蒂姆·伯頓向他致敬的作品，Vincent後來在《剪刀手愛德華》中飾演科學家一角）。

影片已經具備了初步的蒂姆－伯頓式的哥特風格，陰鬱、神秘、黑暗的氛圍在每一個鏡頭中洋溢着，甚至是人物的造型也是蒂姆－伯頓的經典模式。儘管只是一部動畫片主角文森特的造型和剪刀手愛德華卻驚人的相似。《文森特》拍攝完成之後迪斯尼公司的高層認為這部作品恐怖、陰暗，不適宜兒童觀看因而將之封殺。

Vincent Malloy is seven years old,

One night while reading a gruesome tale,

For his beautiful wife had been buried alive.

He dug out her grave to make sure she was dead,

Unaware that her grave was his mother's flower bed.

His mother sent Vincent off to his room,

He knew he'd been banished to the tower of doom.

Where he was sentenced to spend the rest of his life,
